edpsy at five

When we started edpsy five years ago, we didn’t guess how much it would ‘take off’. Five years on and we want to share some of our landmarks with you!

We share the work of UK EPs, educationalists and researchers…with the world!

It makes us immensely proud to be a platform that is truly global and supporting UK EPs and educational staff to share their work with a global audience.

Our top ten countries are:

  1. United Kingdom
  2. United States
  3. Ireland
  4. Australia
  5. New Zealand
  6. Netherlands
  7. India
  8. Finland
  9. Canada
  10. Germany

Our global audience in numbers

  • 417,327 page views over five years
  • The average person takes about 2 minutes 20 seconds to read a blog post
  • Thats about 16,200 hours of reading, in five years!

We try to give a voice to as many people as possible

Over the past five years we’ve published 136 blogs or longer reads, from 118 different authors.

We think this is perhaps one of our biggest achievements, that we’re seen as an accessible, friendly and supportive place for people to share their work. For many of our authors, their blogs here on edpsy are the first piece of public writing that they’ve done.

We’re particularly humbled that EPs have chosen to use edpsy to share reflections on difficult experiences and conversations such as experiences of racism, being from a working class background or being a disabled EP.

‘Community’ and ‘Engagement’ are two of our core values, and we mean it

Our whole ethos over the past five years has been about engaging our fantastic community.

To borrow from Hap Klopp (founder of The North Face) we try to be pie enlargers. We believe that when we use creativity and innovation, and work with others, the pie gets larger and there’s enough for everybody. The more we share…the better for everyone.

To that end we’re particularly proud to have supported a variety of initiatives and tools over the past five years, including:

EP training, professional development and careers

Our EP training pages are popular areas of the site, and we remain committed to providing information about EP training for all UK nations.

In 2017 we launched our Events calendar – a one stop shop for EP CPD. Since launching we’ve signposted to 428 different events. This year we hope to make upgrades and improvements to our events calendar so that it is even easier to share any relevant CPD events with other EPs and interested people.

July 2020 saw the launch of our new jobs portal – an accessible, open, and fantastic value board for any jobs that might be of interest to EPs. So far we’ve helped advertise 19 jobs. Find out more about our jobs board offer.

Climate and sustainability

We’ve written elsewhere about the various actions we’ve taken to be more sustainable, and this continues to be front and centre of everything we do.

Late 2021 ‘Sustainability’ became one of our core values as it was already informing and guiding every decision we make. We really want to try to be role models regarding climate positive action and environmentally sustainable decisions.

We’re proud of our partnership with Ecologi, which supports climate positive projects around the world. So far we’ve helped save/offset 37.14 tonnes of CO2 (as of January 2022) which is equivalent to 28 long haul flights or about 92,000 miles drive in a car.

Thank you

Finally a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed to, supported, and read the fantastic content that we share.

We hope to continue to elevate the work of EPs for another 5 years and we’re looking forward to taking you with us!
