Understanding the power, impact and recovery journey from shame with Betsy de Thierry

16/04/2025 - 09:30 to 15:30

£125

In this training day Betsy will lead us through an exploration of what shame is and how it is experienced. Her definition in her book on shame is: When shame is experienced, it functions as an urgent signal that danger is here: the danger of rejection, failure, exposure and abandonment. It is an experience rooted in interpersonal relationships. It threatens the very basic human experience of being alive and needing to belong, be loved and be accepted. p15 The Simple Guide to Understanding Shame. (2018).

We will reflect and consider the impact of shame on children who have experienced developmental trauma.

We will consider what recovery can look like and how we can facilitate it.
