SUMMARY:Feelings Detectives training - adapted CBT for autism and learning needs
DESCRIPTION:The Feelings Detectives is a 12-week coping skills intervention programme specifically designed for young people aged between 7 and 13 years with social communication and interaction difficulties\, including autism. The programme teaches coping skills to help young people manage anxiety using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles. Young people can train to become Feelings Detectives led by the adult Lead Detective. \nThe Feelings Detectives programme has been designed and evaluated by educational psychologists within schools across the United Kingdom. \nWe are delighted to announce a Feelings Detectives online training event on Friday 16th September 2022. The training will take place online via Zoom from 9:30am to 3.30pm. \nAs part of your training fee\, you will receive a starter pack of resources including 1 Lead Detective Manual and 1 Detective Notebook for young people. \nAfter booking\, you will receive the meeting link and training resources by email. DESCRIPTION:There is growing interest in using Motivational Interviewing (MI) across all areas of EP practice. In this one-day online introduction and refresher course\, Cathy Atkinson and Fi Coley\, members of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) will offer a lively\, informative and interactive opportunity to explore how to use MI in daily practice. \n\nThe day will include:\nAn outline of the theoretical and research background to MI\nConsideration of the spirit\, tasks and skills involved in MI\nExperiential work\, to develop skills and confidence\nGuidance on the application of MI to EP practice\n\nThe aim of the day will be to allow participants to immediately feel more confident in using MI within different aspects of their EP work. \nThis event is open to Educational Psychologists\, Trainee Educational Psychologists\, and Assistant Psychologists. They develop in the wake of common infections (such as Covid-19\, chicken pox\, influenza\, or strep A in PANDAS cases)\, when the infection subsequently causes a misdirected immune and/or neuroinflammatory response. PANS and PANDAS diagnoses are on the rise thanks to recent progress in the medical field. \nBoth PANS and PANDAS have been recognised as discrete diseases by the NHS.
