SUMMARY:Motivational Interviewing Skills Club for EPs (MISC)
DESCRIPTION:MI Skills Club (MISC) is a free community group for Educational Psychologists wishing to practise their Motivational Interviewing skills. \nIf you have already undertaken some training in Motivational Interviewing (at least half a day)*\, you are welcome to join our MI Skills Club (MISC)\, which is a free community group for Educational Psychologists wishing to practise their MI skills within a small and friendly group. \nBecause MI is a conversational style\, rather than a discrete skill\, it is not something that can be mastered by attending a one-off training session. While MI is a learnable approach\, it takes practice\, reflection and supervision to improve. Learning MI on your own is hard\, and receiving objective feedback and expert feedback are helpful in developing and maintaining competence in MI (Miller & Rollnick\, 2023). \nCathy Atkinson and Fi Coley\, who are both members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT)\, are collaborating to build an MI Learning Community for EPs. MINT (2019) defines a learning community as a network of practitioners interested in the same topic\, and the community can serve as both a resource and a forum for developing practice. \nIn each 90-minute online session we will focus on one small aspect of MI (micro-skills practice) and use breakout rooms with small groups to practice skills and give /receive supportive feedback. \nThis event is open to Educational Psychologists\, Trainee Educational Psychologists\, and Assistant Psychologists. We are unable to accommodate aspiring EPs at this event.

SUMMARY:Residency webinar 1. Mind\, bodies and the social nature of subjectivity (Ontology 1)
DESCRIPTION:A 10% discount when signing up to all 11 webinars\nBetween now and the 6th October (the date of the first webinar) you can benefit from a 10% discount when you sign up for all 11 webinars. \nRadical Psychology\, Real Change will be a monthly seminar series that attempts to address the problems outlined above by reviving the legacy of our radical forebears\, critiquing the false radicalism of current practice and presenting new ways of thinking in order to push for revolutionary new ways of thinking in the psychological professions\, so that as psychologists we can go out into the world and make real change. \nPsychology often disconnects our minds from the people and world around us. We’ll address this problem and look at how our relationships with one another co-produce our subjectivities and explore what this might mean for psychology and psychological practice. \nThe seminar series will be accessible to all psychologists\, at all levels of their career from training through to management. Its analytical framework will be founded on a different set of key thinkers and ontological presuppositions than you will find on psychology doctoral courses and will fundamentally challenge many of the established norms set out within those institutions.

SUMMARY:Reed Webinar Series: The delivery of therapeutic work in EP practice
DESCRIPTION:Therapeutic work in EP practice involves delivering interventions to distressed children\, young people\, and families.\nAs schools seek to promote wellbeing and health\, including mental health\, it is important to have EPS who have the confidence and skills necessary to support schools in this challenging and demanding area (McKay\, 2008). \nWhen working in a therapeutic space\, it is recommended that EPs draw on the best available evidence-based research\, as well as professional experience in the community\, to develop evidence-based practice on effective therapeutic work.  This webinar will also explore ethical considerations and potential links to neurodiversity\, including autism and ADHD.
