SUMMARY:An introduction to applying the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 in education: Exploring the issues for educational psychologists
DESCRIPTION:Focusing on applying the MCA in education\, this workshop aims to familiarise Educational Psychologists with the MCA principles and processes in order to help integrate them into everyday practice. \nThis workshop is focussed on specifically applying the MCA in relation to educational decisions. It introduces the MCA principles\, including concepts and language\, as well as definitions of capacity and to lack capacity\, and determining when and how to undertake capacity assessments. An EP’s role in relation in assessing a young person’s capacity\, for example when requested to do so on behalf of another education professional\, and other professional and ethical issues will be explored. \n\nPricing information: \nSociety members: £150 (£125 + VAT) \nNon-member: £240 (£200 + VAT)

SUMMARY:Quality reflective supervision in a changing educational landscape: 2 day course
DESCRIPTION:Day 1: 30th June 2017\nDay 2: 3rd July 2017\n\nThe course consists of 2 full day sessions with an optional follow up consultation and explores some of the central tenets of sound psychological supervision and practice across contexts at a time of change and innovation. \nModels of supervision will be introduced from psychoanalytic to systemic perspectives with opportunities for participants to practice new skills and address ongoing issues of supervision within their service and practice. \nThe course is BPS Learning Centre approved and successful completion will confer eligibility for the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS)
