SUMMARY:The Sandwell well-being charter mark and whole school approach to well-being
DESCRIPTION:This training will provide you with everything your service needs to run the Charter Mark in your area. \nThis action research process supports schools to identify and develop good practice in the area of emotional well-being.  You will be trained in how to undertake the audit process and in how to support schools to co-construct a personalised action plan based on their data.  The Charter Mark is underpinned by Public Health research highlighting the range of factors that promote  emotional well-being in schools (PHE\, 2015). The Charter Mark reflects positive psychology and community psychology principles relating to mental health and well-being. You will be introduced to the new primary school curriculum; this has been developed to  support schools to successfully promote the development of psychological skills that are linked to emotional well-being in children. You will also be introduced to the well-being screening tool that we have developed as part of the whole-school approach.  This can be used to measure the well-being of individual children or groups of children.

SUMMARY:UCL Leading Edge Day 2020
DESCRIPTION:Psychological support following a disaster. The journey of recovery. Long and short term perspectives and responses\nTraumatic events such as the Grenfell Tower fire and the Manchester Arena attack devastate communities and put schools at the heart of efforts to provide short-term care and to support recovery. Psychological care in the immediate aftermath generally involves Educational Psychology Services\, and schools in an affected community can sometimes need to draw on psychological support and advice for years afterwards. \nThis Leading Edge Day will bring together psychologists who have worked with the short-term aftermath of trauma and traumatic events as well as taking a longer-term perspective\, together with researchers who have looked at the factors that can promote recovery. \nThe morning will consider responses to large-scale incidents that affect whole communities and will provide an opportunity to hear about research that is extending and refining what we know about psychological growth after trauma. During the afternoon\, we will hear from practitioner EPs about their work with schools\, both in the immediate aftermath of critical incidents and in supporting students who have experienced trauma. Finally\, we will hear about some new research\, exploring teacher perceptions of EP support for schools after a crisis.
