EP Reach-Out webinar – What are EPs’/TEPs’ views and experiences of using the Power Threat Meaning Framework during formulation?’: A reflexive thematic analysis study with Dr Demi Stroud
- This event has passed.
The 2nd webinar in our series on the Power Threat Meaning Framework
Overview: This webinar explores how Educational Psychologists (EPs) and Trainee Educational Psychologists (TEPs) understand and apply formulation in their practice, focusing on the use of the Power Threat Meaning Framework (PTMF) to understand emotional distress. Through interviews with six EPs and one TEP, the research identifies three key themes: EP formulation is embedded in assessment, formulation is a collaborative process, and the PTMF offers additional insights. The findings suggest that formulation is influenced by a variety of frameworks and experiences, and that the PTMF’s values align with those of EPs, although its complex language may limit its accessibility. Ideas for further research are also discussed.
