We’re launching a fund to support grassroots, community ideas and projects. Small, simple grants of up to £200.
About the fund
There’s currently nowhere in our profession that offers money in support of making grassroots ideas a reality.
We are changing that.
Our community is bursting at the seams with creative people and teams who have ideas that can improve the lives and experiences of children, families, educational staff and other psychologists.
We want to support that. To foster innovation. To cultivate creativity.
We recognise, drawing on our own experience and history, that sometimes what is needed most is money.
The process
- Read our information to check you’re able to apply for funding
- Consider registering to attend the community fund information session at 4pm on Thursday 22nd January.
- Complete our fund application form, specify how much you’re seeking (up to £200) and submit it by the deadline (applications open on 5th January 2026)
- We consider your application and let you know our decision within 6 weeks
- If you’re successful we provide you with the funding you’ve asked for
We want to make this an encouraging, supportive and accessible process. We recognise that the amounts available aren’t huge and so we don’t want you spending hours completing a long application form that implies many barriers to access.
We’re working under the assumption that we want to fund grassroots ideas and projects. We want this funding to be accessible.
The time line for applying for funding
- Monday 5th January – Community fund opens
- Thursday 22nd January, 4pm – Online information session hosted by Dan with a Q&A session. Register to attend.
- Tuesday 17th February – Applications for funding close
- Tuesday 31st March – Deadline for applicants to be informed of funding decision
Our story and motivations
It’s hard for us to believe but edpsy has been going since 2016.
When we started out we had all the ideas, a team of willing volunteers, motivated and excited allies…and no money. No financial support or sponsorship and nowhere to go for funding.
Running a platform and community like the one we wanted to create would cost money. Web hosting, domain names, plug-ins to make all our features work, team meetings, zoom licenses… We’re not even including here the tens of thousands of hours of labour it’s taken to get to where we are now.
When we needed it there was nowhere within our profession to seek funding to make our ideas a reality. Over the years, we’ve had fantastic support from collaborative, kind and committed EPs and others. We’ve seen and lived the power of explicit support and generosity.
Since we launched we’ve had the pleasure of sharing the work of over 200 authors, supported around 100 first-time blog writers, publicised nearly 1000 events and welcomed hundreds of people to our festivals, to name but a few things.
This fund is the next step for us in living our values to connect, share and inspire.
