What we’ll cover over the two days with Dr Karen Treisman

Over the two days, we’ll dig deep to the roots of understanding Relational and Developmental Trauma, drawing on the attachment, loss, stress, and trauma theory bases, providing crucial and critical knowledge for trauma awareness. Drawing from these deep roots, this two-day experience also provides a further focus on sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic abuse, and relational poverty.

Although the content of this learning and sharing of knowledge can be emotive and potentially activating, there will also be a focus and acknowledgment of hope, adversarial growth, and survivorship.

This training incorporates a range of metaphors, props, video clips, experiential learning, and examples to bring the content alive, with many examples from a fostering and adoption context.

Over the course of the two days we will be focusing on:

  • Realising the impact of trauma and disrupted attachment on the body and how this can affect the child’s physical and sensory world
  • The significance of relational and developmental trauma in-utero
  • Understanding relational and developmental trauma’s influence on the brain, cognition, and neuropsychology
  • The effects of relational and developmental trauma on emotions and emotional regulation
  • The burden of relational and developmental trauma on behaviour(s)
  • The reach of relational and developmental trauma on relationships

This certified event promises to be of great value to all practitioner psychologists, and particulalry those with roles attached to Virtual Schools/ care experienced youngsters, or guiding schools in following TIAA pathways.

It is also of benefit to social workers, and other professionals within educational communities who work directly with vulnerable children and young people.

We hope you can join us!
