EP Reach-Out webinar – An Introduction to the Power Threat Meaning Framework and its application to education with Hayley Prickett, Joanne Yeoman & Sarah Sivers
- This event has passed.
The first webinar in our series on the Power Threat Meaning Framework
Overview: The Power Threat Meaning Framework (PTMF) was a co-produced document with Clinical Psychologists Lucy Johnstone and Mary Boyle as the lead authors (Boyle & Johnstone, 2018). The PTMF was offered as a conceptual alternative in understanding stress and distress, compared to more traditional medical models based on psychiatric diagnosis. The PTMF argues for a shift of focus from ‘What is wrong with you?’ to ‘What has happened to you?’ We are curious about how the PTMF might be used to think about educational experiences.
In this webinar we will consider the following questions:
How is the PTMF relevant to our roles (as Educational Psychologists and professionals working in education) supporting children and young people, families and school systems?
How can the PTMF inform our practice?
In what ways is the PTMF currently being used, applied, and adapted to support children and young people, families and school systems?
We will also share details of our PTMF_Education Special Interest Group – more information about this group can be found here https://edpsy.org.uk/interest-groups/the-power-threat-meaning-framework-special-interest-group-for-educational-psychologists-and-professionals-working-in-education/
