EP Reach-Out webinar – “Bridging the gap: Understanding the ‘Why’ and ‘How’ of inclusion for Autistic children” with Dr Soraya Khanna and Dr Elizabeth Atkinson

02/11/2023 - 16:00 to 16:30

Free

Join us for webinar that focuses on promoting inclusion and a sense of belonging in autistic youth. Our webinar explores two distinct yet interconnected thesis doctoral projects.

In the first part of our discussion, we will explore the ‘why do we need to promote inclusion of autistic children’ with a presentation outlining a qualitative synthesis that explored the experiences of autistic students during their primary school years. The findings highlight the impact the school environment can have on mental health and what other people can do to support.

Moving on to the ‘how,’ the second part outlines a study focusing on a novel application of an ‘imagined contact’ intervention aimed at improving children’s responses towards their autistic peers as a potential way to promote systemic change.
