Experiencing trauma in childhood can affect both mental and physical health. These effects can be minimised or transformed in to greater resilience when children and young people are supported within the context of warm and genuine relationships.
This day will support those working with vulnerable children and young people who may have experienced trauma and offer practical strategies to respond to the social and emotional needs underlying their often complex behaviours.
There will also be displays from Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service on the range of training and school-based therapeutic support we offer for children and young people who may have experienced a traumatic event and/or adverse life experiences.
Keynote speaker: Betsy de Thierry
Betsy is a practising psychotherapist and a qualified primary school teacher who has founded several charities that work directly with families experience high levels of difficulty. She is a trauma specialist who has authored several books.
