Educational Psychologist

About the service
Cardiff Educational Psychology Service is made up of dynamic, creative, friendly and highly motivated team of educational psychologists who have a range of experience and diverse professional interests. We have a collective team vision that values creativity, collaboration and wellbeing.
This is positive and exciting time for the service with opportunities to be involved in several strategic developments, alongside work with schools which utilises consultation to bring about positive change. EPs are encouraged to be creative and collaborative, working jointly with other specialist services to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
About the job
The team is valued within the local authority with members of the team taking the lead on several initiatives and projects. We are always on the lookout for strategic opportunities that mean we can share psychology as widely as possible with professionals within education and beyond. All EPs are encouraged to contribute to the team vision and plan which is reviewed regularly.
We take working with our schools very seriously and request regular feedback from them to ensure the service is always improving and evolving. We also work hard to find ways to celebrate our successes and ensure that the many and varied skills of Educational Psychologists are recognised and understood by those we work with.
Team wellbeing is very important to us. Induction time, line management supervision and peer supervision time is provided as standard but informal lunches, nights out and activities are also vital to build relationships and ensure lots of informal support.
Hybrid working is encouraged by the local authority and appropriate equipment will be provided to ensure that working from home and community hubs is possible. However, we recognise the value of in person contact and monthly team meetings are always held in person and always include a range of healthy and less healthy snacks.
What we are looking for from you
We are looking for an Educational Psychologist with the knowledge, skills, experience and enthusiasm who enjoys working as part of a team and values collaboration with other professionals. Someone with a passion for psychology and an understanding of the positive difference it can make for children and young people. We would welcome applications from both qualified EPs and those currently in year 2 or 3 of the DEdPsy training course.
We have close links with Cardiff University; we support trainees through supervision and recognise the contributions they bring to the service with innovation and research.
The team also includes Assistant EPs who provide excellent training and intervention to schools under the supervision of members of the team.
If you thrive in an environment that encourages continuing professional development and innovation, where no two days are the same, then working in the vibrant and diverse capital city of Wales is a great fit for you.
