Telford & Wrekin Educational Psychology Service is entering an exciting period of growth and innovation, offering a valuable opportunity for a Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist to join a relational, values-driven, and forward-thinking team. This newly created role sits within an established and expanding service that is rooted in a collaborative consultation model, underpinned by solution-focused, person-centred, and strengths-based practice. The service operates a distinctive locality-based approach, enabling EPs to develop deep, sustained partnerships with schools and communities through dedicated links with a Lead EP and wider team.

The post combines clearly boundaried consultation-based traded and statutory work with the opportunity to take on a strategic leadership role in their own designated area of specialism. This makes it ideally suited to an experienced maingrade or specialist practitioner EP looking to develop their career and extend their influence. The successful candidate will play a key role in representing the service, promoting applied psychology, and leading developments in their identified area of professional passion, for example Neurodiversity, Early Years, Learning and Play, Youth Justice, or Preparation for Adulthood.

Working closely with partners across education, health, and social care, the postholder will contribute to coordinated, multidisciplinary responses to local and national priorities. They will support the development of inclusive, evidence-informed practice in schools and communities, and help drive system-wide initiatives that promote wellbeing and reduce barriers to education. Telford & Wrekin EP service has a strong track record of innovation and partnership working, including community-based work with families through our parent carer forum Parents Opening Doors and wider contributions to inclusive and neuro-affirming approaches.

Telford & Wrekin EP service offers a highly supportive and reflective professional environment within an Ofsted-rated Outstanding local authority. There is a strong emphasis on flexible working, work–life balance, and professional development, alongside regular supervision, peer support, and opportunities to contribute to ongoing service development. Benefits include generous leave, a local government pension, hybrid working, and a comprehensive package of staff support and wellbeing offers.

This role would suit an HCPC-registered EP who is committed to inclusion, collaborative practice, and applying psychology to achieve meaningful system change. It offers the chance to play a central role in shaping the future of a creative and ambitious service, while making a lasting difference to children, young people, families, and communities.
