EP Inclusion Community (EPIC)
Overview
The EP Inclusion Community (EPIC) is a free group open to UK-based EP professionals interested in promoting school inclusion & belonging.
Welcome to the EP Inclusion Community (EPIC)!
The EP Inclusion Community (EPIC) is a free group for those in the Educational Psychology community with an interest in the role of EPs in supporting, promoting and developing inclusive practice in schools.
The general aims of the group are to promote the role of EPs in supporting inclusive practice and to consider strategies for strengthening the EP voice in discussions around inclusion in schools.
Alongside these discussions, each session will also feature a short knowledge- or expertise-sharing session from a member of the community on an inclusion-related topic.
About this session
This 90-minute session is the third meeting of the EPIC community.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Nathalie Hojka (Educational Psychologist), who will introduce us to the wonderful world of The Emps (Emotions in My Pocket). The Emps is a comprehensive resource that gives every emotion a name, a face and a voice, helping children to talk about their feelings with greater clarity and confidence.
There will be opportunities to explore this further in breakout rooms and to consider how The Emps might be used to support and enhance inclusive practice in schools.
About EPIC
EPIC is currently facilitated by Ali Carr, an EP with a specialist interest in Inclusion and Belonging and the creator of the BASE Model of Inclusion (Belonging and relationships, Autonomy, Sense of Safety, Equity).
The BASE Model provides a holistic, evidence-based framework centred around the concept of the school as an inclusive base for the whole school community.
The group is open to Educational Psychologists, Trainee Educational Psychologists and Assistant Educational Psychologists working in the UK.
