UCL DEdPsy Leading Edge Day 2021 : Equality, diversity and inclusion; working towards anti-racist EP practice
- This event has passed.
In March 2020, the world as we knew it changed. The death of George Floyd triggered widespread reflection, and action in recognition of structural racism across our society. March also saw the UK’s first national lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic which, in turn, brought into sharp focus the social inequalities present in our society (Marmot et al., 2010, 2020). Since then, debates have been ongoing across international contexts, across professions, within psychology and within educational psychology regarding where we are and where we want and need to be in the future. This online conference will contribute to debates already ongoing around racism and ethnicity in educational psychology and will provide participants with a chance to hear about theory and research and to focus on challenges, as well as future directions. In addition, in the afternoon participants will be able to attend two workshops out of a choice of four presented by educational psychologists engaged in research and practice in this area.
