The retrospective experiences of young adults who had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME) in secondary school: An IPA study with Dr Charlotte Davies
- This event has passed.
CFS/ME is an illness with a range of symptoms, however a core feature is fatigue after physical or mental exertion. CFS/ME is thought to impact up to 2% of secondary school children. However, little research exists into the experience of secondary education with the condition. My research was an exploratory study to address this research gap. I interviewed young adults about their time at secondary school with a diagnosis of CFS/ME and analysed the interviews using IPA. I will share reflections on my findings, including possible facilitators and barriers to education with CFS/ME, and how these can be supported. This is part of an ongoing series of health-based webinars.
