TEPICC Autumn 2022 event: Intersectionality, identity and power with Dr Jason Apaloo-Shonibare

06/12/2022 - 18:30 to 20:00

£5

The members of Trainee Educational Psychologists’ Initiative for Cultural Change (TEPICC) invite TEPs and EPs to join us in an event with guest speaker Dr Jason Apaloo-Shonibare on Tuesday 6th December, 6:30pm-8pm.

Jason will be presenting his research which explored the intersections of racism and ableism for students who identified as from South Asian, African and/or Caribbean heritage and who also had a Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND). This will include reflections about in which ways we may choose to align ourselves with our race, culture and ability-based identities, the role of power and systemic influence in these decisions, as well as conceptual applications to the education sector and wider community.
