We are inviting experienced educational psychologists in England to take part in an international research study titled “An International Comparative Study of Educational Psychologists’ Approaches to Assessment in England, New Zealand, and the United States.”
Project focus
This study aims to explore how educational psychologists approach assessment in different cultural and policy contexts. It will involve two online focus groups:
- One on general assessment practices
- One on psychometric assessment
Your insights will contribute to a deeper understanding of assessment practices internationally and help inform future policy and training.
How you can participate
You can participate in this study if you:
- Are an Educational psychologists currently practising in England.
- Have a minimum of three years’ professional experience
The study involves:
- Completion of a short pre-focus group questionnaire
- Participation in two online focus groups (dates in the questionnaire)
- Each session will last approximately 60–90 minutes
If you are interested, please complete the screening survey* (approximately 5-7 minutes)
* Please note that by submitting this survey, you are only expressing interest in the study. Formal informed consent will be obtained separately. If you are selected and invited to the focus groups, you will receive a detailed consent form that you must read and sign prior to your first session.

Your participation is entirely voluntary. While the University of Manchester has forwarded this invitation, the research is also being conducted independently by the University of North Colorado (US) and Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand). Your employer will not be informed of your decision to participate or decline, and your identity will remain confidential to the research team after data collection.
Individuals are free to decline or withdraw without any consequences up to the point of data anonymisation, and that contributions will be treated confidentially in reporting.
In the instance that we are unable to invite you to participate we would like to give you the option of us retaining your email address to keep you informed of key outcomes of the study, or us destroying your data.
