Is that clear? Effective communication in a neurodiverse world – Autism-inspired tips for allistic (non-autistic) people with Joe Butler, Zanne Gaynor and Kathryn Alevizos

18/03/2021 - 16:00 to 16:30

Free

This webinar will presented during Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2021.
Joe has recently co-authored a book of the same name, and will introduce the rationale behind the book as well as why autistic people in particular have expressed the need for it. She will share practical strategies to ensure greater clarity for, and inclusivity of, autistic people in everyday communications. By exploring Double Empathy theory, Joe will discuss the responsibilities allistic people have in better understanding and validating the differences in how autistic people may communicate. She will also examine how consideration, small adjustments, and allistic people owning their miscommunications can minimise mutual misunderstandings, and enable more effective two-way communication.
