Aims, vision and purpose
The Educational Psychology Equity, Diversity & Intersectionality Network Group is a welcoming and reflective space for exploring how identity, difference, power and inequality shape people’s experiences of education, psychology and wider society.
Our vision is to bring together different experiences to create stronger understanding and better practice for everyone. Through keynote speakers, lived experience, research, professional dialogue and shared reflection, the group will explore topics including:
- anti-racist practice
- decolonising education
- LGBTQ+ and trans inclusion
- disability and neurodiversity
- gender equality
- misogyny
- antisemitism
- unconscious bias
- belonging
- and other forms of inequality and marginalisation
Intersectionality sits at the heart of the group. Rather than considering identities and inequalities in isolation, we will explore how they overlap and interact, and what this means for the children, young people, families, communities and professionals we work alongside.
The group is open to all, not just Educational Psychologists, and welcomes applied psychologists, allied health professionals, social work and social care colleagues, education professionals, third-sector staff and others interested in developing more equitable and inclusive practice.
Our purpose is not simply to talk about diversity, but to listen, learn, challenge our thinking and translate reflection into action. Different voices. Real conversations. Shared learning. Stronger communities. Inclusive practice. Better outcomes for all.
