5 things you might have missed: 8th April 2025

In our new series, we’ll try to bring you 5 things from the previous week or two that you might have missed.
This might be resources, reports, opportunities, podcast episodes…things that grab our interest and you might like to know about.
1. New edition of Educational Psychology Research and Practice
The latest edition of the EPRaP journal from UEL brings with it ten articles and reviews. Articles in this edition include stakeholder views of non-statutory EP reports, to a guide for EPs when working with children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
2. Report: Race, Racism and Safeguarding Children
From the report – “This thematic review examines the impact of race, ethnicity and culture on
multi-agency practice where children have suffered serious harm or died.” Broadly the report finds a “prevailing and powerful silence in talking about race and racism” and considers this within the context of child protection, safeguarding and multi-disciplinary work.
3. PositiviTEA survey launched
Max and Fi have launched a survey for their joyful and successful ‘PositiviTEA’ intitiative. Completing the survey will support them in shaping the future of the work and the events they lead.
4. Black and Asian Psychologists Fund launched
The British Psychological Society (BPS) has opened applications for its next round of funding for members from Black and Asian backgrounds. Applications can be made for up to £2000 and the scheme closes on 25th May. 5. DfE Consultation: reasonable force and other restrictive interventions in schools
The DfE is seeking consultation responses on the revised ‘Use of reasonable force and other restrictive interventions in schools’ guidance. The consultation suvery closes on 29th April and psychological input in this consultation may be valuable. There is an accompanying guidance document.
